What’s the difference between Acrylic vs UV gel extensions?

Acrylic and gel nails have a similar flawless solution to chip-free, freshly polished nails that last for weeks.

Acrylic nail manicures tend to cater to those who want to go for a more creative and dramatic look by enhancing their nails with artificial nails. Acrylic nails are made with a powder (polymer) that is dipped in solvent (monomer) which is used to lengthen the nail, provide a stronger top layer over your natural nails and can be moulded into shapes. It is a two-step process that air dries and adds strength to the nails (almost like a protective shell).

Gel tends to be softer and more flexible, so if you accidentally hit them they are less likely to snap. Gel extensions use structure gel and are cured with a UV/LED light. You also don’t get the same strong smell as acrylic nail application because solvent does not need to be used and gel extensions are generally healthier for nails.

Can I upgrade my treatment on the day?

It is best to contact me first. You can ring me on 07537134104. If time allows we can upgrade the treatment however if I have a booking straight after it may not be possible. I may also need to bring additional equipment which I would need to pack in advance.

Do I need to provide anything for the treatment?

The only thing you need to potentially provide is an electricity socket and hot water for certain treatments e.g. gels or pedicure with soaking. Two chairs would also be ideal! I will bring a table, light and extension cable.

What is required from me?

Prior to the appointment (if it is your first appointment with me), it would be great if you could fill out and email back a Client Consultation form. The questions are about your general health and allergies. Don’t worry if you don’t have time we can alternatively go through the form together during the appointment.

Two hours before the appointment (home treatment)– tidy space in your home, ideally near a window and electric socket (I do bring an 2m extension cable) and two seats.

At the time of your appointment –ask other household members to stay in another room or to keep six feet from the treatment area. Wash your hands before you sit at the table and relax.

How do I ensure safety?
  • I am licensed and I have learned about infection control principles and took a certification.
  • I use disposable tools when possible.
  • My gloves are changed after each service.
  • Metal tools are cleaned, disinfected and then sterilized.
  • The table is provided by me. It is clean and disinfected. Then it is covered with clean disposable towels.
  • The desk and LED lamp are disinfected after each client.
  • The pedicure bowl is disinfected, pedicure liners are disposed of after each client.
  • I bring everything I need and I quickly set up the workspace.
  • My table is covered in clean fabric towels and disposable paper towels.
  • I spray your hands with sanitizing hand spray and cleanse your nails with 99% isopropyl alcohol before starting the treatment.
Problem with your nails after your appointment?

Please contact me as soon as possible and I will work with you to find a solution.

Covid related queries

If you have symptoms before your appointment time, get in touch as soon as you experience any symptoms of the virus. We will cancel your appointment and reschedule for a future date if that suits you.

If you have symptoms after your appointment time, get in touch as soon as you experience any symptoms of the virus. If you or anyone in your household who was present during the appointment shows any symptoms related to Covid-19 within 7 days of the appointment, please, get in contact with me immediately.

I regularly take rapid Covid tests. In the case of a positive test, all near future appointments are cancelled. My 10-day self-isolation period begins. No more clients are booked until 2 negative tests are attained.
